5)      Moura Hakala invested a total of $16,000.  Part of the money was placed in a savings account paying 4% simple interest.  The rest was placed in a savings account paying 6% simple interest.  If the total interest received for the year was $760, how much had she invested in each account?

 

6)      Green Turf’s grass seed costs 60¢ per pound and Agway’s grass seed costs 45¢ per pound.  How many pounds of each were used to make a 40-pound mixture that cost $20.25?

 

7)      The Modern Grocery has cashews that sell for $4.50 per pound and peanuts that sell for $2.50 per pound.  How much of each must Albert, the grocer, mix to get 80 pounds of a mixture that he can sell for $3.00 per pound.
