Is This
Course for You?
Do you have what it takes to own/manage/operate a
small business? While this course provides the knowledge needed to lead
and manage a small business, it also reflects the pursuit of
entrepreneurial dreams. More than routinely managing people and
situations, entrepreneurs build a business to fulfill dreams for
themselves, their families, and their communities.
Today,
you can find exciting opportunities for operating your own business if you
are committed strongly enough to overcome the obstacles you will
encounter. New ventures can create personal value for both owners and investors
who devote their time and money. New ventures create jobs and provide new
products and services.
Entrepreneurs
need to dream, to see opportunities where others see only failures.
Benjamin Franklin, Henry Ford, Bill Gates and many more saw such opportunities
and today we all benefit from their achievements.

What students
tell their friends about this course:
- This course can be very interesting and can be related to other life
experiences even if you are not interested in developing your own
business.
- I would tell my friends that it was a new experience and that taking
an online course is not that bad at all. I would suggest to next
semester's students to review the syllabus and all the assignments
during the first week of class. This gives you a heads up on the work
that must be done. Don't fall behind in your work and make sure you
read directions carefully.
- If you think this course is easier than in a regular classroom,
forget it. Realize that this is college-level course and this
instructor expects you to read and write and think at higher levels.
- The instructor is up-front about everything right from the
beginning. She is easy to get a hold of and quickly responds to
questions or concerns.
She also has a good sense of humor.
- I feel that to some who may not want to
dedicate the time to studying and learning the material: it may seem
hard, but they are not working to their potential. In
suggesting the course to my friends I would focus on the advantages
of the flexible work schedule, and you can do the online quizzes
at your own pace.
-
The course is all laid out at the start of the semester and there are
no
"surprises."
- Read and review the chapters before taking the quizzes. The quizzes
ask some really specific questions, you have to be very prepared. Take
your time on the quizzes. Make sure you understand the questions
before answering.
- I would recommend this course to anyone who is a self-motivated
learner. The biggest suggestion is to stay on track with the course
schedule, as no late assignments are
accepted. It's so easy to work ahead, so why pressure
yourself at the end?
