Introductory Assignment
The purpose for this assignment is multi-fold. Foremost, I would like the opportunity to quickly get to know you in your own words, so please feel free to write as much as you would like. Secondly, I want you to honestly contemplate your future efforts in my class and develop a plan for success. Finally, I want you to either prove or gain a modest amount of computer literacy.
You are to produce a document (Word, Wordpad, Excel, PDF, Powerpoint, Photoshop, etc. – ANY universally recognized file format will do) that is all about you. In this document you must include:
· a digital image of yourself (representative – not of when you were 3 months old),
· your name,
· contact information (including your preferred method for me to get in touch with you),
· a short (or long) blurb about yourself (things to talk about may include: who you are, your past adventures, your future ambitions, your family, friends, pets, hobbies, likes & dislikes, anything that you feel comfortable sharing,
· your academic background (degrees earned, experience in science, work experience, etc),
· why you are taking this course (prereq., for your major, for a job, for the thrill of learning, masochistic tendencies, etc.),
· what you expect from this course,
· a plan of study/learning for this course please read and reference THIS DOCUMENT
· anything you think it is important for me to know about you for your success or safety in this course (all documents are for my eyes only unless you specify otherwise)
· humor, humor, humor (make me laugh, and I’ll learn your name faster)
If you don't have easy access to a digital camera or scanner, let me know, and I will take a picture of you
The next few instructions are über important, so PAY ATTENTION!
1) Name your file YourlastnameYourfirstname.doc (.doc is just the extension). For instance, if I (Glenn Fox) were to do this, the file name would be:
FoxGlenn.doc (if I used MS word)
FoxGlenn.ppt (if I used MS Powerpoint)
FoxGlenn.wpd (if I used Wordpad)
FoxGlenn.htm (if I wrote this in HTML)
N.B. do not include spaces or punctuation (beyond the “.” for the file extension)
2) You must attach (not insert in the body) this assignment to an email, and send that email to JCCBIOLOGY@gmail.com. The subject of the email should be “Intro: Your name, course #” For me that would be “Intro: Glenn Fox, BIO 131/BIO 132/BIO 132 HYBRID/BIO 155/BIO 253”
3) I must receive this email before Exam 1.
