Genealogy or Family History

There are many ways to organize the information about a family.

• A pedigree (or family tree) is often used.  Note that the father is 1, the mother is 2, and so on.  In this system the men are always "odd" numbers and the women are "even" numbers.  Using a "circular chart" and numbers (as illustrated below), I have made a bird's eye view of our family pedigree.

• A list of relatives with information about each is also common.  This is usually presented alphabetically.  However, I have listed our ancestors by the numbers corresponding to the pedigree chart described above.

• A list of surnames is another method used.
