3. Ordered: 1 L of Dextrose 5% in water over 8 hours using a giving set which delivers 10 drops/ml. Calculate the rate in gtts/min. Round to the nearest drop.
4. A patient is prescribed a continuous infusion of dopamine at a rate of 4mcg/min. To determine the correct dosage you must consider the weight of the person. To do this you multiply the weight of the person in kg times the rate. The patient weighs 143 lbs. One vial of dopamine (200mg/5ml) has been added to 500ml of NaCl 0.9%. This means the “total” prepared solution is 200mg/500mL. At what rate should the pump be set (mL/hr) to give the required dose? Hint: Find the dosage in mg/hr and then divide by the prepared solution.

7. Analysis of an air sample reveals that it contains 3.5 x 10-6 g/L of carbon monoxide. Express the concentration of carbon monoxide in lb/ft3 using scientific notation.

9. You are estimating the cost of paint to paint the walls of room that is 21’ long by 13’ 8“ wide with a 9’ ceiling. (You are not painting the ceiling.). The room has two doors that measure 3’ wide by 7’ high and 4 windows, each of which is 3’ high by 32” long. You plan to use two coats of paint and know one gallon of paint covers 400 square feet per gallon. How many gallons of paint do you need remembering that you can only purchase “whole” gallons of paint? This is a multi-step problem. That is, you cannot solve it with one long dimensional analysis “set-up.” Clearly show steps of your solution using dimensional analysis where appropriate.
10. Sam is working at a fast food restaurant wrapping hamburgers. Every 3 hours he wraps 350 hamburgers. He works 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. He gets paid every 2 week with a take-home paycheck of $440.34 (after taxes).
- Approximately how many hamburgers will he have to wrap to make his first million dollars. Round to the nearest whole hamburger.
- How much time will it take to wrap all of those hamburgers (use your answer to part 1)? Assume he works 48 weeks out of the year and that he works with the same efficiency every day. Express the time in years rounding your answer to the nearest tenth of a year.
