GETTING STARTED...

  • TECHNICAL INFORMATION or will your computer work? Make sure your computer will handle ALEKS!

  • Buy the CORRECT COURSE MATERIALS with ALEKS: buy the ALEKS Users' Guide booklet.   Elementary Algebra Schaum's Easy Outlines Crash Course is recommended but not required.  This course does not use the regular MTH 120 textbook.

  • You will want to get enrolled with ALEKS immediately.  Besides the information in the registration booklet you need the course ID - which is RQLDR-UW3LC.  When you enroll you will be asked to complete an assessment.  You will want to complete it in one setting.  If you have to stop, be sure to click EXIT in the menu.  NOTE: The course will say "Intermediate Algebra"...you are in the correct place, but you are really are in a Beginning Algebra course.

  • Get a proctor for Tests and the Final.  Students may take tests at either the Main Campus Testing Center or at JCC @ VoTech.  All students may find a proctor and not use the testing centers.  The proctor should be either either a librarian, clergyperson, or educator.  For more proctor information click here.  Email me your proctor information during the first week of the course.

PASSING THE COURSE...

  • Read the Topics listed on the left so you are familiar with the course requirements.

  • On the first week of the start of the semester get on Educator.  There you will find announcements, course information, and grades. You can get there by going to https://classes.jccmi.edu or by going to JCC’s website (www.jccmi.edu) and clicking on Online Classes on the left panel.  You should plan to check Educator weekly.

  • Plan to spend at least twelve (12) hours per week on ALEKS.  In an Online Course you do not spend less time learning the material than in a regular classroom: you have flexible time.

  • Make deadline for tests.
