Philosophy: I will strive to assist students who are genuinely interested in learning. I will also work to motivate those students whose interest in learning is yet to be discovered.
Background: I came to JCC in 1981. I was hired to teach machining in the Night Owl program. The Night Owl program served residents of Southern Michigan Prison by bringing them to campus for coursework after 10:00 pm. Since that time I have also served JCC as an administrator responsible for Apprenticeship Education and as a day-time faculty member of the Manufacturing Technology Department. I have developed and taught courses covering manual and computerized machining, CAD, CAM, welding, tech math, precision measurement, and the Machinery's Handbook.
Recently, I have transferred to the Mathematics Department and am preparing to teach math courses. I am beginning with MTH 110 will and progress to other courses as preparation continues.
Part of my preparation is to experience JCC's math courses as a student and as an observer. You will see me in a variety of roles as a student, observer, tutor and instructor. Please feel free to let me know about your experiences in JCC's math courses and if you desire assistance, just ask.
